Dressing & Undressing a Ground

Dressing & Undressing a Ground

St Ives FC have three Junior/Senior 'Home' grounds allocated to them by NSFA, being Warrimoo Oval , St Ives Showgrounds (2) and Barra Brui Oval.
It is our responsibililty to ensure that nets are put up and flags are put out on these four pitches for matches when required (most weekends in the season and occasional mid weeks).
If this duty is not performed then the club is fined $225 for missing corner posts and $25 for missing nets.
Referees (KDFRA) have been instructed that no match may procede without corner flags, and that if nets are not present then the commencement of the match is at the discretion of the referee.

As you know, St Ives FC is a volunteer organisation, and the club's policy on managing this duty is to have the teams take on the responsibility. So that you can carry this out you have been issued with a key that provides you with the access required as described below.

Warrimoo Oval , St Ives Showground and Barra Brui Oval are full sized pitches that are only used for 11 aside matches, ie Competition Age Groups (U12 upwards). As such it is only those teams that will have such responsibilities.

How Do I know if it is my team's turn ?

It is the Team Managers responsibility to know if they have a dressing or undressing duty for the coming weekend.
You can establish whether you have this responsibility as follows :
  • Use the screen to establish which ground you are playing at. If it is Warrimoo Oval, Showground or Barra Brui Oval then continue at the next step. If not then you do not have a responsibility this weekend.
  • Ensure all the boxes are clear
  • Enter the date you are playing in the 'Select Date' field
  • Enter the ground you are playing at in the 'Select Ground'; field
  • Click the 'Show ?' field
  • You will see all matches on at that ground for that date.
  • If you are the first match then you are responsible for Dressing the Ground.
  • If you are the last match then you are responsibile for Undressing the Ground.

Dressing a Ground

It takes about half an hour to dress the grounds so please make sure that you arrive in plenty of time.

You MUST
  •  Unlock the changing rooms
  •  Remove the orange netting between the goal posts if applicable
  •  Put up both nets, and the four corner flags. If there are two flags for the half way line then these should be put out as well. (All stored in the changing room in a wheelie bin)
  •  Unlock the Ambulance Gate
  •  Inspect the pitch for rabbit holes and fill with the soil stored in the changing room (Warrimoo Oval only)
  •  Put any step ladders in the wheelie bin after use (leave at Southern end of ground), bags, spades etc. back into the changing room (unlocked)
Nets
  • Remove the orange netting strung between the goal posts if applicable
  • Ensure that the nets are pulled over the posts and bar and attached to themselves such that there are no gaps between the bar/post and the net
  • Peg out the net to ensure that there is no possibility that the ball can leave the net once it is in the net.
  • We have found that the minimum pegs required are one at the base of each post, one at each of the rear corners, one half way along each the side of the net,  two or three along the back of the net and one on each of the strings that pulls the back of the net upwards. (10 or 11 pegs).
  • There is a set of step ladders (in the wheelie bin) and/or chairs in the changing room to help you reach the bar properly.
Corner Flags
  • Should be just touching the outside of the line right on the corner
Half Way Flags
  • Should be 1 to 1.5 metres from the sideline in line with the half way line.
Rabbit Holes
  • Walk the pitch to inspect for any rabbit holes that may cause an injury.
  • Fill any holes with some of the soil in the dustbins in the changing room.
Sponsorship Signs
  • At Warrimoo there are two sponsor signs that are to be hung on the back fence behind the goals at the southern end. Use the 4 Ocky straps.
Finalising
  • Replace all bags, step ladders, orange netting, chairs, spades etc. in the changing room (do not re-lock)

Undressing a Ground
You MUST :
  • Take down the nets and gather all the flag posts. (Please ensure that you gather up ALL the  tent pegs) - place with the ladder in the wheelie bin supplied. Warrimoo please bring down the sponsor signs
  • Place the wheelie bin with nets, flags, pegs, cones and ladder in the changing room
  • Attach the orange netting between each of the goal posts using the pink and yellow Velcro if applicable
  • Ensure that any chairs, step ladders, spades etc. are in the changing room.
